What is Future Indefinite Tense

What is Future Indefinite Tense? Explained in Detail with Examples

The future indefinite tense, also known as the simple future tense, is used to describe an action or event that will happen in the future. It is used to express a single event or action that will occur at a specific point in the future.

In English, the future indefinite tense is formed using the auxiliary verb "will" or "shall" followed by the base form of the verb.

VERB: 1st Form of Verb

HELPING VERB: Will and Shall

Structure of Future Indefinite:

1) Simple: Subject + Helping Verb + Verb + Object

2) Negative: Subject + Helping Verb + not + Verb + Object

3) Interrogative: Helping Verb + Subject + Verb + Object

4) Negative Interrogative: Helping Verb + Subject + not + Verb + Object

For example:

  1. I will go to the store. (The action of going to the store will happen in the future.)
  2. He will not work at the office. (The action of working at the office will happen in the future.)

4) It is important to note that the future indefinite tense is used to describe a single future event or action. If you want to describe an ongoing action that will take place in the future, you would use the future continuous tense.

For example:

  1. I will be studying for my exams when he arrives. (The action of studying will be ongoing when he arrives.)
  2. She will be working at the office when the meeting starts. (The action of working will be ongoing when the meeting starts.)
